FM 275 near East Main Street

Cumby, TexasFeb 01, 20050 Comments

Highway 275 Northbound, just north of East Main Street (Hwy 499). I was ticketed here for traveling 41 mph in a 30 mph zone. Nevermind that there was no posted limit, the last sign I had seen was in a residential neighborhood prior to entering the ‘business district’ (which itself was unposted) and I had now made a transition from small town main street to open farmland and no street lights in the dead of night, or that the 55 mph sign was 500 feet in front of me, or that the opposite lane is posted as 40 mph! The municipal court office knows all about it and blames it on TX-DOT. If you’re going south, it’s 40 mph; if you’re going north, it’s 30 mph. If that doesn’t rate as speed trap, I don’t know what does. The city cops sure know it–I thought he was going to turn his cruiser over when he spun around to flash me down.
