Dallas, Texas Speed Traps
Central Expressway (US 75)
As you head out of downtown moving towards LBJ, I-635, watch out for Dallas’ newest toys. Lots of Camaro’s, black and very hard to see. Usually hiding underneath the overpasses. Just started in the last couple of weeks. Posted 60, I would be very careful of anything over 65. Be especially watchful from Woodall Rodgers Fwy to Northwest Hwy (Loop 12). This seems to be the main focus right now.
International Pkwy (AKA Airport Tollway)
Dallas, Grapevine and Irving patrol the roads leading into the North side of DFW, and Fort Worth and Euless hit the south side. No breaks period! This is a six lane limited access toll parkway. Officers LOVE to hide underneath the jetways (overpasses)and nail anyone not doing 55MPH. Jetways are wide enough to hold a six lane freeway, very dark and hard to see underneath. This is where they like to hide. If you are driving on the frontage road next to the tollway, better do the posted limit and not one mile above. Watch what you do and say. They do have a 2 cell jail set up on site (this is pre 9/11)
I-45 south of dallas city limit
police officer “estimates’ your speed without use of radar.”
Exit Ramp off 635 EB at Hillcrest
The speed limit of the ramp/access road is 40 while the limit on 635 is 65, so a car must slow down extremely qwickly to get below the 40 MPH limit in time. Most do not. The police bring several cruisers at a time to handle the volume.
Northwest Highway & Lakehighlands Rd.
cops sit on the median as you are coming down Lake Highlands right after Northwest Hwy. They are 95% of the time always there. WATCH OUT!
