El Paso, Texas Speed Traps
Northeast, El Paso. Rushing Street
Rushing is a long road and the speed limit changes between every other block: 30, 35, 30, 35, 30 and then 45. Pay attention to the speed limits. Cops don’t usually park on the side alone and in the open, they are often parked close inbetween residents’ cars and you may think they are inside one of the homes-but they are actually sitting in the car and will pull out to catch you the moment you pass. Watch out because they may have "clocked" you three or four blocks down the road when you weren’t paying attention to the speed limit changes. Also, the speed limit changes between blocks and there are not always stop signs to indicate a speed change. You’ll cruise 35 for two blocks, then the speed will drop to 30 and you won’t even notice it dropped until it’s too late.
On Burgundy off of Gateway East near Del Valle High School
When you exit the gateway and turn onto Burgundy, it is downhill and since you are coming off the gateway, you may be at a higher rate of speed. The speed limit changes around Escobar and there is a motorcycle cop sitting at the corner of Senor Tedd and Burgundy. This view is blocked by a rockwall so it’s an easy ticket. Plus, it is really close to the Zaragosa sub-station so be careful. Be aware of speed limit change!
Hercules and Magnetic
Speed limit is 35 but on a long stretched out and downhill road it is difficult to keep that speed and the officers stop speeders every 15 minutes.
I-10 headed West on mile marker 62
Here is when you enter El Paso County. The speed limit drops down to 70mph from 80mph. A lot of the time motorist continue driving 80mph.
The whole drive on I-10 I never ran into an officer, the moment I crossed into that county there were DPS left and right! I was following someone going 85mph and I was going 75mph. I was the one to get pulled over.
So my suggestion is just go the 70mph. Better safe than sorry and still have to pay a huge fine.
Westwind Dr & Villa Hermosa Dr
Usually during the morning rush between 7 and 10a.m. there is always a police officer in a mustang sitting on Westwind right next to the Indian Springs Apartments. Since people who live in the apartments park on the street, he hides in front of them at the bottom of the hill. Be careful because since this street is a big hill, it is quite easy to pick up speed and easily go 15 over without noticing.
