Garland, Texas Speed Traps

A Dallas County Constable hides near the Rowlett Creek Sewage Treatment Plant. He uses LIDAR and vigorously enforces the speed limit. I am always surprised to see a Constable out enforcing traffic, but then again Dallas County Budgets are in a shamble. When you go to the JP’s office they have a sign that states “Attitude is everything….and it can COST YOU””. So what does this say about our court systems?”

Usually a marked Garland PD cruiser with or w/o light bar will sit off the right shoulder in the grassy knoll on I-30 Eastbound just past the Rose Hill overpass before the Bobtown exit. Also a Garland PD unit will stake out the grassy area just past the Northwest Dr Eastbound on-ramp behind the concrete retainer wall before the Beltline exit. On the actual bridges that cross Lake Ray Hubbard (Dallas County) it has been noticed a full size Dallas PD white Ford F-250 4×4 with full light bars will have vehicles pulled over as he does have jurisdiction on the lake.

Garland Police on Motorcycles under the 78 bridge, z-28 camaros and mustang 5.0s on the side of the road, constables, state troopers in their cruisers and H.P. mustangs, garland cruisers in the medians. You name it.

I drive this part 3+ times daily or more, and there will usually be a policeman somewhere close.

Seems like lately there has been less Garland cops and more D.P.S. officers,,,, I don’t know who frightens me more 🙂

They have built ’emergency vehicle’ turnarounds every half- mile or so on the 190 medians,,,, so they can go make a U real quickly.

It really stinks here, it is the farthest point Eastbound, turning from Northeast Prakway into 190,,, and going from 45 to 60 m.p.h. headed westbound,,,, reverse those going Eastbound. The road is pretty much brand new, 3 wide lanes each side – divided major highway stuff here – nice smooth grades, etc,, and with a posted speed limit of 60 it is almost laughable.

There is a Burger King on the NE corner of Walnut and Plano. Normally there are 3 motorbike cops sitting there at the exit, and one down the road on the median. They check for seat belts, registration, inspection and speeding. The speed limit is 40 so you are going slow enough for them to just look at you and your tags and pull you over. I got hit twice by the same cop. Ive learn to wear my seat belt at 80$ a pot.

Eastbound LBJ, left lane, around 2 pm. A cop just sitting on the left shoulder shooting radar gun. Everyone was going 80-85 mph. I was the second car following a van. He clocked the van and came out to pull him over. When I came back later about an hour later he was still there. Watch out on the fast lane.
