State Highway 290

In a span of less than 2 miles, speed limit changes from 70 to 55 to 45 to 40 to 35. The speed limit signs are deceptive, as one sees a sign, slows down and thinks you are going the limit, but you have missed the next sign. And the cops don’t warn, they just ticket. The town of Giddings is trying to revilalize itself with antique stores and quaintness. No town that runs a speed trap will get my business!

Heading east Hwy 290/ Entering town before railroad tracks

Giddings is a terrible place to drive through on the way from Austin to Houston. The speed limit dips from 55 to 40 to 35 within one mile. Also, I was ticketed for speeding when I wasn’t. I won’t even talk about the traffic jams from the railroad crossing. Haven’t these people heard of overhead passings?
