Houston, Texas Speed Traps
FM 1960 @ Imperial Valley (at the Texaco station)
I’ve spotted as many as 7 patrol cars at the Texaco at once. When they are there it’s always in high numbers. They watch the 1960 underpass of 1-45 (the speed limit there is 45 not 55). It’s also a fav. stop for the cops to get gas (and donuts, he he!). BTW they have a great car wash there (if you can stand 10 cops staring at you when you pull out any large denominations of money)
Cypresswood Eastbound right after bridge over Hardy Toll Rd.
At 2:00pm (right before Spring HS lets out) there is a Harris Co. Pct. 4 cruiser sitting in the grass right after the bridge. the speed limit on the birdge is 30 MPH (dont go 35). They pull over the HS kids as they crest the bridge. They WILL pull you over for going 32.
Holcomb between Stella Link and Buffalo Speedway
The speed limit is 35, but drivers could easily go 45. Enforcement is sporadic. Cops usually sit in the street media but sometimes in one of the shopping center parking lots on Holcombe.
Buffalo Speedway between Holcombe and Bissonnet
The speed limit is 30 because this is a residential area, but drivers often try to go 40 – 45 mph. Enforcement is sporadic. The cop car is usually sitting in the right-hand lane or on a sidestreet. This street is within a small town within Houston called West University Place. Cops are eager to generate tickets for the revenue.
Texas 290 and Barker Cypress
Texas DPS sits south of 290 on Barker Cypress. Just south of convience store. Speed limit is 45 but Hwy. 290 is a four lane road with almost no commercial or residential properties on it.
