Speed limit is posted at 30mph (too slow) and is enforced fairly often. Not too many “heed”” the posted speed limit unless an officer is present.”

Atascocita Road

Humble, TexasFeb 08, 20060 Comments

On Atascocita Road between Wilson Road and Bender Road the speed limit drops from 45 to 35 (for no apparent reason). There are frequently Harris County Sheriff’s deputies patrolling this area. I’ve noticed an increase lately as Atascocita Road has become a mini-freeway in the morning and afternoon for Atascocita area commuters. The prevailing speed during rush hour is in the 50-55 range, so the tickets can be very expensive. There is a Sheriff’s office at Atascocita and Wilson, which probably explains the activity.

The north bound feeder road parallel with a construction zone. (Double the fines). Two HPD officers man this with a Radar gun and flag down speeders. A HPD pick up is what one stands behind to check traffic. Posted limit is 40MPH. Few if any signs.

Motorcycle patrolman sits behind sign, conviently uses church parking lot to pull over cars from either direction. When you get back on W. US Highway 59 near FM 1960

On both exits onto the feeder from 59 South to 1960 the speed limit drops to 40 MPH. There is a policeman on this feeder that will nail you over 40 and you have to brake to slow down before you finish the exit and before you go over the river.
