East and Westbound 114 from Cistercian to Freeport

Irving, TexasJun 13, 20100 Comments

I travel this route at least twice per day. There is always at least one motorcycle officer and one officer in a car clocking speeders. I would not suggest going more than 5 miles over the speed limit of 60 mph at ANY point in the day. I sit and watch from my window at work as people are pulled over all day every day. There is always one car that will brake when they see the trap and accelerate after they pass it. Needless to say, they are pulled over 1/4 mile down the road by the next officer. Speed at your own risk!

Airport Freeway service road between Story & MacArthur

Irving, TexasJun 10, 20100 Comments

Radar positioned right at MacArthur Exit off of eastbound Airport Freeway. They are clocking cars as they exit the freeway and enter the service road. The speed limit on Airport Freeway is 60 and the service road is 35. Make sure you get your speed dropped to 35 before you hit the service road. My ticket is $241.00 for going 51 when I hit the service road. They are also clocking cars entering Airport Freeway so make certain you don’t start your acceleration until you hit the entrance ramp. Saw many others also getting tickets that day.

Eastbound Hwy 114, airport to Ester Blvd

Irving, TexasApr 21, 20100 Comments

Motorcycle had pulled over a car to left shoulder / median near Esters Blvd exit 10am. Most likely the car had been travelling the leftmost lane of 114, about 0.9 mile east of DFW airport ramps before beeing tagged. The eastbound lanes make a large bend to left, at the Freeport Pkwy crest. Leftmost lanes have shortest travel around the bend – but are also most likely hit by motorcycle / patrol car parked in median. Speed limit 60 mph.

Eastbound 114, near Beltline exit, Beltline bridge

Irving, TexasApr 21, 20100 Comments

On Eastbound 114, going from DFW airport to Dallas downtown direction, no more than 300 yards before bridge, found car + laser measuring eastbound speed. Patrol car is parked in the leftmost breakdown lane, adjacent to the median, just few a steps before hwy 114 narrows in for Beltline bridge. Targeted cars are 2 leftmost lane cars approaching over a shallow hillcrest. No more than 450 feet to patrol car, when first visual after shallow hill is possible. Observed 5:30pm, during fast flowing rush hour traffic. The jumping back into patrol car, and merging into fast flowing traffic, to pursue an offending car looked unlikely due to all the cars going by on 4 lanes abreast – possibly just a test of laser aim on a large number of eastbound cars, and return later for a catch when less traffic. Speed limit 60mph.

Westbound 114 service road x 161 G.B turnpike

Irving, TexasMar 15, 20100 Comments

Accidents happened when cars turned right on red from westbound 114 service road onto 161, and got rammed hard on driver side by northbound 161 cars. Instead of putting up a dangerous intersection warning sign visible to westbound 114 service road cars, a red light camera was installed instead. The northbound 161 cars will race cross the bridge crest at 45+ mph. Don’t get T-boned here. The red light camera enforces the right turns to be a complete stops or ticket. Warning: for people going across, to westbound 114, the yellow light is very short, resulting in ticket if you don’t break as soon as light has turned yellow. Ticket is $75, Dallas County.
