Irving, Texas Speed Traps
N Loop 12
Coming up busy N Loop 12 at 12:30 on a Friday. Surrounded by cars and we are all going 70-80 but the sign is 60 for this 8/9 lane divided interstate. Cop standing by car in median with laser/radar gun shoots, flicks lights on and points at me for 81 in a 60!
N MacAuthur Boulevard near Northgate Drive
Dallas County constables park in left turn lanes (is this legal?) in front of MacAuthur High School and shoot radar.
State Highway 114 & Freeport Pky
Moto cops sit here between Esters and the Grapevine line and peg people daily. Speed limit 60
Grauwyler Road near Irving Heights Drive
Precinct four county constables are parked behind the empty building next to the car wash from dawn to dusk, almost every day. When I pass through, I would estimate that 90% of the time they have someone pulled over. If you are passing through this intersection, drive slowly and come to a complete stop at the sign. Also, make damn sure your tags and stickers are up to date or you WILL be stopped if they aren’t already harassing someone else.
George Bush Turnpike near State Route 161
GBT/161 between LBJ and 183 is filled with radar cops at all times of day. I’ve been told that Irving puts rookie cops there for training — they’re determined and aggressive, and you cannot talk them out of a ticket.
