FM 149 near FM 249

Magnolia, TexasNov 12, 20070 Comments

Drive north on FM 249, make a right on FM 149, just before the bridge the speed limit is 45 and then it drops to 30 mph. The sign is extremely hard to see, going north it’s on a sign on the right of the bridge, going south there is a curve before the bridge and the sign is just before the curve.

Hardin Store Road near State Highway 249 and FM 2978

The speed limit is 40 mph, but that is unrealistic, you will always see MC Constables, Sheriff, and TX DPS. They are now even in unmarked cars, such as a Ford F250 Maroon Pickup with no markings except on the tailgate. They also hide in personal driveways and behind trees. They will tailgate the vehicle in front of them so oncoming traffic can not see their lights. They also drive a wide range of vehicles (constables) because they purchase their own vehicles. Be Careful, I have gotten 3 tickets in the past couple of years.

Nicholls-Sawmill Road near FM 1774

There is almost nothing on this country road, with no posted signs for miles. As you come around a mild curve, there sits a patrol car under a 30 MPH sign. He turns around and nails you.

Speed limits are unnecessarily low. (30 mph on a major road) The speed limit is even lower than my neighborhood.

On this particular road there are 4 school zones. When you turn off of FM 1774 there are 2 school zones with a 30 mph speed limit. The police strictly enforce this speed limit.
It dosen’t matter what time of day it is. The about a mile or so up the road there is a 40 mph school zone, then a little farther down the road there is another 30 mph zone.
On the non school zone parts of this road there is a 50 mph speed limit.
