Post Road Between I-35 Frontage and Gruene Road

New Braunfels, TexasJan 15, 20240 Comments

Hmmmm…Post Road’s speed limit ironically isn’t posted. The roadway going southwest is not posted for speed so don’t assume it’s 40 or 45 mph; it’s actually 30 mph, even though it’s in a largely industrial/rural area. Curiously the road is posted at least three times as 30 mph going in the opposite direction. Radar officers are waiting for you. There just isn’t any way to know what the speed limit is.
Here’s the location on Google Maps:

Hwy 725 from New Braunfels to McKinney

New Braunfels, TexasDec 24, 20130 Comments

The speed limit was dropped recently to 50 mph. Signs were replaced overnight however there are very few signs. DPS and Sherriff run radar driving up and down road. Also sitting behind shrubs on side roads shooting radar. Hwy has always been 55-60 mph in the past. Officers always have someone pulled over every time I drive down this road.

Common at the fair grounds

there is a cop sitting at the entrance almost every morning. the speed limit is 30, but you can easily go 45 without even noticing. there is a giant hill that aids the cops in giving out tickets. you almost have to ride your brakes to keep from getting pulled over.

Exit #187 IH 35 North, New Braunfels Texas

New Braunfels, TexasAug 08, 20120 Comments

Watch out when Exiting IH 35 North #187 in New Braunfels Texas, the exit speed is marked 45 mph.
A Police car parks on the right, under a tree located just at the end point of the exit part of that lane.
The lane changes into an IH 35 North entrance lane at that point, please note this because most drivers moving into this lane to enter IH 35 North are speeding up, over 45 mph, which makes merging with side road traffic difficult.
The police ignore drivers going over 45 mph as they enter this lane from the side traffic and target drivers exiting who haven’t slowed down to 45 mph yet.
I use this exit every day and see many drivers stopped because they were going over 45mph in the exit lane.
I am fairly certain this trap is a big revenue generator for the city.

One Block each side of the Downtown Plaza

New Braunfels, TexasMay 24, 20100 Comments

The speed goes from 35mph to 25mph one block from the traffic circle/plaza, on all four sides. NBPD will sit in adjacent parking lots on San Antonio St and Sequin Ave, or just off the circle.
