Paris, Texas Speed Traps
Speed limit drops to 40 mph just before passing the cemetery. Police are usually in the parking lot on the left if you are travelling west on Evergreen St./New Jefferson Rd..
Texas DPS trooper in car hidden well out of sight at night even off the shoulder in a very shallow ditch.
The limit drops from 70 to 55, but for only about 200 yards! It is easy to miss the change, as it is so unexpected that you barely have time to react before you are inside of it, where the cop will be waiting.
Paris was not named after Paris Hilton, but coincidentally, there’s also an Arkansas town called Paris, near Altus where the 1st Simple Life was filmed. Speed limit goes down from 70 (trucks:60 on a fm road) to 55, to 45, to 35 or 30
The area is enforced by the Paris PD and the DPS. They usually sit just over the hill as you enter the south city limits on Hwy 19 or just past the schools in a parking lot on the left just before Loop 286.
