Rio Vista, Texas Speed Traps
Texas State Hwy. 174,and FM 916
Rio Vista, Texas is a small town of less than 500 population, but employs a police force of 8 patrolmen, and maintains 3 new Crown Victoria patrol cars fully equipped with front/rear Ka band in each car. Two of their patrol cars are white with lights on top,but 1 is dark metallic grey with lights in the grill. They usually clock traffic on the move or from the parking lots of local businesses. They operate 24/7 on Texas SH 174. If you are stopped you will receive a citation,no matter how minor the infraction.(ie. headlights or tail lights not the same level of brightness on both sides, marker light out, registration or inspection stickers expired even 1 day,) If you live there and the officer knows you, you might get off. But pity the poor person who is just driving through. How else can a tiny little town of 500 support such a large police force?
