San Antonio, Texas Speed Traps
Bluemel Rd, between Wurzbach and Fredericksburg
Bluemel–where it runs alongside USAA–is set at 30 MPH due to a curve, homes close to the road, a fairly steep hill, and animals that run out onto the street. People always try doing 40 or more thru here. Sometimes there are uo three motorcycle cops sitting, hidden by bushes, in an unused driveway belonging to USAA. They often pick off several cars at once. I try not to go too fast, but guys in trucks/SUVs have a tendency to want to run you over or off the road so they can go as fast as they want!! Don’t let these bullies force you to speed–you’ll be the one getting the ticket!!!
HWY 151 & Military Dr.
One cop sets up his tripod on the Military Dr. overpass while several (as many as 6) unmarked cars and motorcycles pull over for even 5 MPH over posted speed limit…and yes it was at the end of the month. QUOTA!!!
Evans Rd. between Knights Cross & US-281
Driving past the fire station, at the major curve approaching Bush Middle School, there is a police officer (do not know if it is SAPD, County or Constables) who regularly pulls cars over. This usually occurs in the evening, for example, it happened yesterday night, which was a Sunday. The punk hides either in the fire station parking lot, in the subdivision next to it (where he blocks traffic) or behind the large sign for the church that is adjacent to Bush Middle School.
Watch out!
US-281-N between Airport & Sunset, right above 410 mainlanes
On the left shoulder, there is a significant dip (presumably for stormwater drainage) and there is a large amount of space between the left lane and the median, as opposed to just a few hundred feet earlier where if you drift a bit to the left, you will scrape your car.
Anyways, due to the extra space and the dip, it is a good place for a cop car to hide, and many do. I saw a motorcycle yesterday that got pulled over by a cop, the motorcycle was driving about 80 mph, and posing far less of a danger than the cop did when he drove out of that little space.
US-281 N Access Road at Gunn Nissan south of Bitters Road
The dealership’s parking lot is blocked off, but a cop sits in the driveway here. Just saw him pull over a Cadillac CTS, it didn’t appear to be doing anything out of the ordinary, particularly since traffic was so heavy (rush hour) and it couldn’t speed even if it wanted to. Seems to me it’s the end of the month, can you say QUOTA?!
So unfair. Anyways, be aware of this speed trap, y’all!
