San Antonio, Texas Speed Traps
Marshall Road
Between US Highway 281 and Bulverde Road , a Constable positions himself at the top of the hill waiting for speeders. The speed limit starts at 35 MPH , then at the entrance to a gated community , the limit reduces to 30 MPH. While almost all speed limits are in the range from 40 MPH to 50 MPH in and around the general area, to me this is too slow and perfect for a speedtrap.
Wiseman and Talley road
Motorcycle sheriff hide behind trees with radar.
On Callaghan halfway between Babcock & Fredericksburg
Motor cycle cops different times, but usually late afternoon or evening by the water tower.
Blanco Road midway between 1604 & Bitters Rd.
Often as many as 3 SAPD motorcycle police officers gather in the parking lot – just out of sight – at 16845 Blanco Road – Prudential Real Estate office. It’s on the East side of the road, just across from the elevated golf driving range. Soutbound drivers can’t see them until it’s too late; Northbound drivers can’t see them at all. I work in that building and have seen motorcycle police waiting there as early as 6:30 AM to 11:00 PM at night, 7 days a week.
U.S. Hwy. 281-S just South of the Airport Exit
I was racing to downtown all along US-281 and slowed down for the major curve by the divergence with San Pedro and maintained that speed all the way through the Web, when I noticed an unmarked SAPD (or is it those punk Bexar Co. Sheriff’s Officers?) vehicle, Chevy Tahoe, all blacked out, Obvious cop car with the giant mirror/light thing.
Camping out in the left shoulder of the access road and watching the cars pass by below on the US-281 mainlanes instead of doing their ACTUAL police work such as busting up gangs, minimizing drug supply, etc.
