The officer sits in front of the McLellans gas station in an unmarked Impala ss the speed limit drops from 50 to 40. This officer is the number one ticket writer in the state. No saving grace here.

Constable and Sheriff,who are paid from from fines collected. Mt. Tabor collects a good part of its income from fines. Out-of-state cars more than cars with Vermont plates seem targeted. Coverage is sporadic but intense when it occurs. Route 7 is the principal north-south highway west of the Green Mountains, so tourist travel is steady year-round and a productive corridor for local law enforcement. Public safety is the fig leaf that covers the real purpose of their periodic rounding up of speeders, revenue enhancement.
