Essex Junction, Vermont Speed Traps
West Rd./West Rd. Ext off Rte. 15
Speed and Stop sign trap. Cruiser sits just to the right of West Rd. Ext on West Rd., nails vehicles exiting Rte. 15 to get to Global Foundries (old IBM) or Rte 2A, without going through “5 corners,” (or vice versa.) Since the Rte 15 “reconfiguration” from Suzy Wilson Rd. over the last couple years, there’s been more “enforcement” at this spot than I’ve seen in the previous 25 years combined. Mostly legit, it is a residential street with a 25 m.p.h. limit, but sometimes a bit bogus. Count to 4 at that West Rd./West Rd. Ext. Stop sign. Seen a lot of vehicles “lit up” there lately.
Rt. 117 / River Road / Maple Street
Just after you cross into Essex Junction on Rt. 117, the speed limit changes from 35 or 40 to 25. There is often a cruiser just up and over the hill near IBM or Maple Street Park.
Park Avenue near Winnooski River Bridge
When going into Essex junction speed drops from 40 -> 25, and police always have cars on that streach. Generally around 30 feet after 25 mile/hour sign.
