Sheriff waits in the parking lot of the visitor center. When cars are leaving the newly opened restaurant ESSEX HOUSE on cross street, they get tickets if they fail to use direction signals. Essex House just opened this year, they have their own parking lot for patrons. If you exit the parking lot and proceed onto cross Street, you need to wait at least thirty seconds before pulling or or you get a failure to stop (3 points) and you must use your direction signals (two points) .

Sheriff will pull you over and ticket you. My gps had me at 5 miles UNDER the posted speed limit but sheriff told me most gps are not acurate . Wrote me a ticket fot ten miles over. Very dishonest. Seen many with Vermont plates speed by and never get a ticket.

You will get a ticket at these two locations. Period. For most drivers the only ticket in a lifetime of driving. Warn your friends, family, and business associates take an alternate route and avoid Island Pond. I have been doing so for many years since my first and only visit. Court system? You will lose. No sense at all and very Un-American.

Attention motorcycle drivers …..Even if you come to a complete stop with one foot on the ground , you will be fined . You must stop , put both feet on the ground and count to three or you will be ticketed ( $ 199.00 ) for running a stop sign on an interstate highway . Common sense doesn’t exist in Island Pond Vermont !! Tourist take note …Vermont is nothing like the Newhart TV series !!
