Rutland, Vermont Speed Traps
Usually an unmarked Sheriffs car hidden in the tall grass on McKinnley or just south parked off the road. Somtimes they sit on the farmers property a half a mile north of McKinnley. The speed limit is posted 35 if your doing forty, they’ll stop you.
A patrol car is frequently located at the intersection of Route 7 and North St. Extension by the Mac’s convenience store. I see cars pulled over within 1/2 mile of this intersection at least 5-6 times a week. Sometimes as much as 3 times a day. The speed limit is reasonable but you can get pulled over for minor infractions.
From the Rutland Country Club parking lot to the Pittsford town line there are at least 4 different spots that are frequented by the Sheriff Dept. Corner of Mckinley is perhaps the most frequent because the road is straight with few houses but the 35 mph can catch you almost anywhere in the 3 miles.
starting at the south end of town they set at Suds South just north of mickey d’s and get u coming from way back norht on 7..they sit just past there all in the 35 and get u coming down the big hill south at Ray beane tire and warehouse, or across at the car wash or Tire warehouse. The city cops like to sit at the crest of the hill on north main street(7N) just south of sewards resturant with the laser, and right in that area north of that till u get to the city/town line.. even in the town they sit right around post road by the power plant or in the pull off, or some types in the car dealership, brilyeas on route 7 N
rural road, posted 35 mph but should really be 45 – 50 mph. Cop waits at blind corner for out of state motorists.
