Quaker Lane between King St. and Seminary Rd.

Alexandria, VirginiaAug 06, 20030 Comments

Officers stand on the corner sidewalk at the top of a hill (so if you have overshot what you need for the hill then you’re getting a ticket) with some kind of detection pointed at passing cars. THey then stand out in front of the offender of the unreasonably slow posted limit and point you to a side street. This speed trap is just yards away from where the speed limit changes from 25mph to 35mph.

I-395 North/South

Alexandria, VirginiaJun 26, 20020 Comments

395 North/South. Cops like to sit on the connector road that goes over 395 in Alexandria. Also, according to a Washington Post article, there’s a Cessna airplane flying too high to see, but he’s the eye in the sky for the cruisers. A quote from the article, "Most speeders were doing 20+ miles over the limit, they never knew we were there." Part of the "Smooth Operator" program in force now.

Quaker Lane Right Before Duke St.

Alexandria, VirginiaJan 01, 20020 Comments

This officer stays on the side streets of Quaker waiting for you to speed, its posted 35 but 5 miles over and he will get you. So Stay below that. And Watch Out for the sign that drops the speed limit to 25.

Braddock Rd. Approaching Russel Rd.

Alexandria, VirginiaJan 01, 20020 Comments

This officer is always there when I drop Off my sister in the mornings. He’s on the side of the road on a motorcycle about 3 or 4 blocks before Russell Rd. Slow traffic down to 25 and just cruise to that speed till you hit the Interesction. Plus if you do get pulled, he won’t give you a break.

King Street Past TC Williams High School

Alexandria, VirginiaApr 01, 20010 Comments

When driving past TC Williams High School towards Old Town Alexandria, there will be a church on the right. Immediatley upon seeing the church I advise you slow down to EXACTLY 35mph. The cops wait there for students and because of our knowledge of this trap, we hardly get caught. But almost everyday other people do, so be careful!
