Amherst, Virginia Speed Traps
HWY 60 near Rockbridge County Line
Be careful if you have out of state plates. I was traveling west on HWY 60 in a group of three cars when I was pulled over for speeding. I was the middle car in the group of three and the only one without Virginia plates. I had been following the car in front of me since I left the town of Amherst. This is definitely an unequal enforcement area.
Route 29 at the Tye River
Going down a long grade the speed limit drops from 60 to 45 for a long term construction project. The county deputies like to sit and wait and write summonses for going just a little over the limit. This was already a speed trap without the road construction. Must be a gold mine for them.

between Monroe and the exit leading to Amherst Hardee’e and Amherst high school.Speeders are being pulled over DAILY.
US Highway 29 near State Route 151
On Route 29 just south of 151 is a pull off. I see Highway Patrol officers parked there often. The speed limit is 60 and just over the next rise will the speed will increase to 65 so some people increase their speed a little too soon in that area and get caught.
Also the intersection of 29 and 151 is dangerous so people should be careful through there anyway.
