National Airport

As you enter National Airport coming from the GW parkway south, airport police sit on access road off to the right hand side; right before you turn off for rental car return and entrance to terminals. Speed goes from 45 to 25 as you cross under GW parkway. They are trying to nail people rushing to flights or distracted tourist. Tourists are easy prey since they are unlikely to return to DC just to argue a ticket. I live here and got caught going 42 in a 25. Been back several times around the same time (6-8pm) and sure enough he is there waiting.

On N. Ohio Street between bridge over Rt. 66and Washington Blvd going towards Washington Blvd in the A.M Rush and going away from Washington Blvd in the P.M. rush. Especially during good weather, usually motorcycle cops standing behind/in between cars parked on side of road.

US Route 50 Eastbound, just past the Carling Springs exit

From time to time in the afternoon (mostly warm days when it’s sunny), I witness Arlington County’s finest operating a speed trap at this location. The cruisers park at the corner of the intersection, but the area is wooded, so you can’t see the cruiser until you are abeam of it’s position. I usually pass the area at around 3:15 in the afternoon.

Veitch Rd. between Wilson Blvd. and Lee Hwy. near Courthouse

Arlington County Police, either motorcycle, marked and unmarked man this trap on a very regular basis. Police stand near parked cars while their vehicle appears parked as well. Will walk into middle of street and ‘halt’ you to pull over. Speed limit is 25 except during school hours when the limit is 20. Classic revenue generating speed trap on wide open road.

You won’t know you were scanned by the radar until the cop steps into the street and "halts" you about 50 feet down the road.
