George Mason Drive

Arlington, VirginiaJan 01, 20021 Comments

Northbound George Mason Drive, 1/4 mile north of intersection with Rt. 7. Coming down the hill, speed limit is 35. Very easy to do more than this due to steep hill and speed limit too low for prevailing conditions. Officers hide patrol car in parallel-parked traffic on right at end of hill and step out into traffic to perform stops. This happens frequently (4-5 times a month).

Cop sits with parked cars, speed limit is 35 but it should be much higher. Cops sit about a block prior to it turning to 45, you can even see the big 45 MPH sign ahead but he writes for 35.

Cop sits on side of road on Carlin Springs, usually in an unmarked car. You don’t see him until you have passed him.

I submitted one for this location a few minutes ago, but forgot to include that the speed limit is 30 thru here, even though it is 2 lanes each direction. Should be much higher, majority of cars do 45 or higher!!

Caught me at dusk. His car was parked on the 395 side of the road under some trees. Heading southbound toward from Pentagon City to Glebe Road. He was out of his car, waving people over. Because of lack of visibility, I almost hit him and almost did not stop because it was difficult to tell he was a cop.
