US Highway 460 near Mile Marker 5

Blacksburg, VirginiaJul 10, 20061 Comments

I’ve only seen it once (because once was all it took for them to catch me), but late at night, on the RIGHT side of the road (instead of the center median), immediately after the street lights are discontinued on the way out of Blacksburg (from VA Tech) on Rt. 460, going towards I-81, a cruiser sits in the dark, with all his lights off, just as the road goes into a downhill, so he can catch you speeding on the 55 MPH downhill. You stay classy, officer.

University City Boulevard near University City Boulevard Post office and Macados

I have seen two people (in addition to myself) be pulled over within about a 100 ft stretch of road. The officer said that the fast speed is especially dangerous because of the pedestrian traffic that frequently crosses the road, however the 25 mph speed limit is rarely enforced.

Prices Fork

I’ve traveled Prices Fork many times and they sit at the Firehouse. Most people go 50, when the speed limit is 40. Stay 9 mph or less above the limit and you’ll be save.
Also, they sit at the Elemtary School (alot) in the small town further away from Blacksburg where the speed reduces from 45 to 35.

Givens Lane (right after Mormon House)

Pop people who come over the edge on this downhill turn. Speed Limits are 25 but area is largely rural and most people do 35-40. The work this usually in the Morning and evening to catch commuters since this road is access to a few housing developments.

Hethwood Drive

Coming down the hill out of Foxridge apartments. Sit in the Food Time lot or when using motorcycles will sit back under the trees. Speed limit is 25 but most go over that. They will pull you for anything more than 5mph over. They work this spot to catch students on the way out to class in the morning.
