Boones Mill, Virginia Speed Traps

This small town (1 light ) has always been known for this but the lone cop is also either the mayor or town manager now so he doesn’t have the time to do this very often any more. Problem is that the Franklin County Sheriffs have evidently taken over this job. Last Friday and Monday both had a sheriffs marked unit in a small lot about a 1/4 mile north of the traffic light. If you are coming from Roanoke and do not slow down he will have you. If you start to pick up speed in anticipation of a return to 55 don’t do it too early.

22O North and south reduce from 55 to 45 and it is strictly enforced by the local police. This is a big source of income for them.

Boones Mill in Franklin County is renowned for the GTO revenue machine that replaced the former Z28. This place is insane- several newspaper stories have been written about this trap. Leave no bush ungaurded is clearly the policy for this small town, which gaurds this road with fervor. Be Advised- Slow down in Boones Mill. The fact that they give a cop a GTO to ride around in shows this fellow brings in some revenue.
