Bristol, Virginia Speed Traps
At the intersection of Old Airport Rd & Bonham Rd is a soccer field. As you turn up Old Airport Rd, towards King Mill Pike, the Bristol PD likes to sit in the gravel parking lot of the soccer field. They’re usually hidden by the pine trees around the lot, so you don’t see them ’till you’re past. The posted speed limit is 35MPH, but 40MPH seems fine. They mainly run radar here in the mornings.
Coming up Old Airport Road from Exit 7, towards Bonham road, you’ll pass the Sonic restaurant on your leFort As you go through the curve past Sonic, the Bristol PD will run radar about half a mile up the road on the leFort The speed limit is 35MPH, but I get away with 40MPH all the time. Much faster than that & they’ll probably get you.
I see them out all times of day, but heaviest during AM/PM rush hours.
There is a strip of Island road in Va. that is 25 mph. They are setting back off the road pretty often. its about a mile after you turn off of Gate City Highway onto Island Rd.
