Hampton, Virginia Speed Traps
Orrcutt Avenue near 7-11 store
Hampton police are known to sit in the 7-11 parking lot and conduct speed traps
Coliseum Drive near Hampton Coliseum
The section of Coliseum Drive nearest the Hampton Coliseum is a notorious cop campout. It’s six lanes wide, not including the turning lanes in the middle, and does not see a lot of traffic, yet the speed limit is only 30MPH. Make sure you’re watching the spedometer, I thought I was doing the speed limit, and was clocked at 19 over. You prolly wont see the cop either. He clocked me before i got to him, and had his lights on before I even reached his parking lot. There were 23 people in court that day from speeding on that same road, and I’ve had a number of friends get ticketed there as well.
mallory Street near county Street
Police sit near County st on Mallory. Also, be very careful in the entire Phoebus area, the is no turn on right almost everywhere, we got a ticket, and there were 4 more there when we went to court. The signs are hard to see at night, so be careful!
Hampton Roads Center Parkway near Harpersville Road
I cannot stress how many people I saw in court for speeding on this road…..the speed limit is 45! And while it is tempting to book it down the straight road, the cops will get you! They also set up a lot of DUI checks on this road as well.
Armisted Road near Rail road Crossing
Just past the RR Tracks when it goes from 45mph to 35mph they like to sit in the parking lot to the right if your going towards downtown Hampton. I got busted for speeding as I was coasting down, only ticket I have ever recieved and It’s complete BS.
