Madison, Virginia Speed Traps
Madison-River Road
You’ll see a state trooper parked on river road shooting radar on southbound rt 29 traffic. They fill the court room with one speed trap alone. DO NOT speed through Madison. It’s horrible.
madison county, about 20 miles from charlottesville
that famous turning, if you go from north to charlottesville, I guarantee you will see a cop 50% of the time sitting on the curve, it’s hard to notice because of the curvature, I got caught twice, 71/60 and 72/60
Mountaineer Ln & S Seminole Trl
All of U.S. 29 through Madison County is heavily patrolled, and in the town of Madison itself. Annecdotally, I’ve heard from a local resident that the income from traffic violations is a major source of revenue for this poor, sparesly inhabited county. Watch your speed-no more than the posted speed in Madison itself.
State Highway 29 North near Prince Michel Vineyard
Officer in marked car at botton of hill right after the vineyard. Famous trap for University of Virginia Students. Watch out enforcement in Madison County is super high.
US Highway 29 near Madison & Greene County Line
Well known speed trap right at the county line talked about by students at my school in Charlottesville. They sit halfway down the hill in one of the turn lanes, facing traffic…so you will pick up speed going downhill and then get caught. According to other students, sometimes there are cops from both counties on both sides of the line so they catch you twice. Tough cops, liked to issue tickets. Got caught at 74 in a 55 zone (US 29 is a tough highway to drive at times, because cops like to use it for speed traps).
