Interstate 64
The VA state police appear to be out in full force on Int. 64 more than ever within the NewPortNews area.Tickets seem to be handed out more often to out of state tourists heading to VA Beach. In addition to this,officers are starting to be quite prevelant on all interstates within VA
hiding at the bottoms of hills and emergency crossings. Especially the ones that are obscured by trees and brush.
Thorncliff Avenue near Warwick Boulevard
Speed limit on this road is 25, but everyone goes faster then that. At the end of the road near the Shell Station, there is a church, and the parking lot is hidden by the woods. There is always a cop (most of the time is a motorcycle cop) sitting there just waiting for someone to fly by speeding. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen someone pulled over by this cop!
Hampton Roads Center Parkway near About 1,000 feet from the Hampton/Newport News Border, inside of newport news.
Newport News Police will sit about 1,000 feet into newport news and will run radar. They sit in the cross-over connecting both sides of the road, and due to high grass and signs you will not see them until you are within 500 feet of them, and they will have already captured your speed long before you ever see them. Mostly this trap seems to catch drivers comming into newport news from hampton, but very often I have seen two cruisers there, one facing each direction, to catch you leaving and entering newport news as well.
Interstate 64
A lot of unmarked police cars traverse the section of I64 between Jefferson and Hampton Roads Center Parkway. Had one match my speed the other day during heavy traffic, and would not let me over. He pulled me over but I got out of the ticket because he wouldnt let me merge over, and neither would the idiots behind him
Groom Rd.
A marked patrol car is usually hiding either on a side road or at the church. Both are on your left and imediatly there after turning onto the road if you are comming from Harpersville and both are on your right after the stop sign if you are comming from Jefferson. Be careful; the limit is 25 and they do enforce it. some people jokingly call this cop the Groom Rd Nazi nomatter who it is assigned that trap for the day.
