Manchester Bridge, Northbound side

Richmond, VirginiaMar 01, 20010 Comments

Officers observed sitting just out of the line of sight behind the bridge abutment. Unmarked cars are the most common but marked cars and motorcycles have also been used. Perticularly fond of ticketing motorcycles due to a recent motorcycle fatality of a fellow officer at this location.

I-95, north side of town, near Rtes 301/1

Richmond, VirginiaDec 01, 20000 Comments

A favorite area to catch the out-of-state motorists on the New England to Florida route. Southbound: on the on-ramp from Route 1. Northbound: on the right shoulder just around the curve past the I-64 split. Frequently 2 cars; they flip from northbound to southbound for several hours every day.

I-64 eastbound; just east of Short Pump exit

Richmond, VirginiaDec 01, 20000 Comments

As you approach Richmond travelling east on I-64, the speed limit drops from 65 to 55 shortly after you pass the Short Pump exit; slight downhill grade and open, easy to speed; state police use median strip to "shoot" west in hollow median behind Gaskins Road overpass one mile east of Short Pump exit; you see police same time he sees you; prevailing traffic 65+; have not been pulled, do not know ticket threshold.
