Springfield, Virginia Speed Traps
Fairfax County Parkway near Hooes Road
This is a favorite spot for the patrol to sit because they can remain fairly unseen until it’s too late! They stay on the shoulder of Hooes North and wave you over. The 50 MPH speed limit is so often ignored that it is a cash cow spot for them! I have also seen them monitor county stickers here in the fall. I live right near this intersection so use the Gambrill/ Sydenstricker exit or Hooes South to avoid lining their pockets.
Amherst Avenue near Essex Avenue
Hidden Fairfax Co. Patrol car using radar
Interstate 495/ outter loop near Interstate 95 South
The trap will be on the right hand side all the way against the jersey wall as you are about to go across the overpass for I-95 south. There will be one trooper usually facing the same direction as traffic and he is in the car and watching.
Springfield Parkway near Greenspring Village
They sit in the shoulder, usually 2, waiting for people speeding around the turn. It is across from greenspring village between the on ramp from rolling road and the turn in for greenspring.
Springfield Parkway near Hooes Road
Cops sit on the side road between the hooes road exit and gambrill exit behind the sign so you can’t see them. They are usually minimum 2 but i have seen 4 at once. They are out pretty often.
