Stafford, Virginia Speed Traps
US Route 1 South , just south of Quantico Marine Base
You are leaving Prince William County were the speed limit is 50mph and entering Stafford County were the speed limit will drop to 45mph as you are dropping over an incline. Normally, Stafford County will place to motor cycle cops right at the county line who seem to be taking bets on who will right the most reckless driving tickets. If you are coming out of Prince William doing 55mph, you will get ticketed
I-95 Southbound at Exit 140
Southbound I-95 200 yards past the entrance ramp from Courthouse Road (Exits 140), ~8am the statie usually will be running radar. There’s a slight downhill slope that begins right as you round the corner into his sights. I’ve seen him many a mornings, usually in a Charger waiting to dish out speeding tickets. I always slow as I come over the overpass to around 70 and he’s never given me a problem. And I sure do see him fairly often.
U.S. Hwy. 1 Northbound
There’s a stretch of road traveling Northbound on U.S. Hwy. 1, just after the split of northbound and southound lanes, it’s very easy to pick up speed as there’s no place for police to hide, except in the cubby holes on roads leading to the southbound lanes, just after you pass Altoona…your vehicle will climb a hill, on the other side of that hill, is the entrance to Stone River subdivision, police have a perfect place to hide as you can’t see them, and there’s no time to slow down.
I-95 between Dumfries & Stafford
After sitting in traffic for hours on hours it seems like, the HOV Lanes end right after Dumfries, VA and there’s no bettter way to celebrate the end of all that waiting, than to gun it all past both Quantico exits. This gives ya some time to stretch your legs, but don’t stretch ’em too long because in the emergency lane there’s Ol’ Smokey waiting for ya just before you reach Garrisonville 610 exit. You can spot him when all the tree leaves are down, If I remember right, on that stretch of I-95 south, the road curves to the right,
I- 95 & Garrisonville Rd
Southbound I-95 as you come under the bridge for Rt610. Sneakyman Troopers will usually be sitting facing you in an Emergency Vehicle turn-around. Not the one PRIOR to the Rt610 bridge, the one AFTER. Best advice- 68mph and they won’t even flinch.
