Vienna, Virginia Speed Traps
Interstate 66 near Interstate 495
Getting on I-66 West from I-495, there’s a slight curve on the highway with an emergency lane on the right side. It’s right after the ramp from getting off 495. Going around the bend it’s hard to see, but there’s sometimes a State Trooper sitting in the emergency lane waiting for speeders. Very tricky.
Courthouse Road near Locust Street
Going east to west on Courthouse Road. Limit is 25, but you can easily be coasting above this limit by 10-15 mpg if you are not paying attention. Usually two cops using hand held Lidar.
Beulah Road near Creek Crossing Street
The Vienna police are often posted in the Glyndon park parking lot at the intersecion of Creek Crossing and Beulah. The speed limit is 25 which isn’t unreasonable, but where they sit is at a straightaway, so it’s easy to drift over 25… Nice that vienna has more police than citizens…
Follin Lane near Electric Avenue
Where Follin Lane begins turning and becomes Electric Avenue is the most common place I know of where police cars hide to catch speeders (25 mph zone). Especially frequent during non-rush hours.
State Highway 123 near US Highway Route 7
Heading West into Vienna from Tyson’s Corner area, the cops hide on the north side, in/near the church. 4 lane divided highway with 35mph limit, it’s downhill and easy to hit 50 without noticing.
