Virginia Beach, Virginia Speed Traps
Cape Henry Area of Shore Drive
The area of Shore Drive between Great Neck Road and the back entrance of Fort Story is 35 mph. There is a police officer there on a regular basis that monitors traffic through the residential section, as the speed on the North side in this area is 45, and the south side is 55.
Shore Drive by Charlie’s Seafood Restaurant
Drivers coming off the Lesner Bridge headed toward Great Neck Road. A police officer sits behind the restaurant and monitors traffic during the early afternoon for speeders coming down the bridge. He also watches a bus stop there around 3-4:30.
19th Street in front of the Virginia Beach Convention Center
There will be an officer on foot, standing behind one of the signs in front of the Convention Center. He points the radar gun at your car as you approach as he’s hiding behind the sign. Its quite commical. He also may be on his motorcycle.
Witchduck Road & Kempsville Road
All of Witchduck Road is 35 m.p.h. from beginning to end, but most people do 45m.p.h. At Princess Anne Rd, the road name changes to Kempsville Rd, but the speed limit is still 35 m.p.h. all the way past Rock Church. Cops have been catching people on this stretch of road for years and years. The police station is right there, too, so talk about the mice coming to to cat…..
Princess Anne Rd. between Newtown Rd. and Witchduck
35 m.p.h. All The Way, so be careful! Got a ticket there 3 years ago. I now drive a Mustang, and I actually had a cop pull out (off of the median strip where he was sitting) and Follow Me for half a mile down this stretch of road! I knew the speed limit was 35, so I put on my cruise control. Eventually he realized he wasn’t going to catch this pony, so he drove back onto the median and stayed there. Brother!
