State Highway 169 near various locations

There are too many police cars for such a small town, and at least one or two are doing radar checks around the clock. The speed limits are 25 MPH on side streets and 35 MPH on the highway. I am told there is no tolerance above these speeds. I m also advised by a resident that traffic fines are the town’s main source of income.

Anything within the city limits of Black Diamond is fair game. Most speed limits range from 25 to 35 MPH. One mile per hour over can get you a ticket. They seem to have several officers and use this for revenue generation. I drive 3 to 4 MPH under the limit. Nearly everytime I drive through I see someone getting a ticket.

Roberts Drive near Lake Sawyer SE Road

Black Diamond PD park just east of the intersection of Lake Sawyer Rd SE and Roberts Ln. (also known as Auburn-Black Diamond Rd. outside of Black Diamond). They enforce the VERY LOW speed limit of 25 MPH west bound on Robert Ln., enforce the 50 mph zone on Auburn-Black-Diamond Rd. West of this intersection and those slowing down coming int othe 25 mph zone in Black Diamond, and watch for roll-through stops at the stop sign on Lake Sawyer Rd Se at this intersection; all from this one location. Sometimes they are almost completely hiden in an adjacent driveway. DO NOT SPEED ANYWHERE IN BLACK DIAMOND or roll-through ANY stop signs within Black Diamond. Interestingly, the court building in Black Diamond IS the police building, and the window you stand at to pay a trafic fine is only about six feet from a window to the BD Police Office. I don’t think there’s much chance of leniency from the court here!

216 Avenue near Covington-Sawyer Road

Black Diamond officers park right past the Lake Sawyer store on the left side of the road. If you are coming from Kent-Kangley road going south, you cant see them till you are in their sights. They will not give you a break and they really get the kids coming and going from Kentlake high school on a regular basis.
