Camano Island, Washington Speed Traps
Turning south from Camano Hill road onto West Camano Drive, next 2 miles is a usual trap, road goes down a hill and turns, County Officers usually sit at end of curve facing north, or at intersection of beach road facing south. 35 mph is limit. Down hill coasting cars can reach 40-45mph.
About one half mile both North and South of the exit there are emergency vehical roads between Northbound and Southbound. Daily I see one to three sheriff’s or state patrol in this area.
Coming over the Mark Clark bridge from Stanwood onto the island, watch your speed, especially after darkness has fallen. Typically, one smokey will wait at the bottom of the hill up onto the island and another will be waiting at the top. This way, they catch people both coming and going.
At the Welcome to Camano Island sign at the "y" at Terry’s Corner, police like to sit in the parking lot with the radar pointed east toward Stanwood.
