Edmonds, Washington Speed Traps
Hwy 99 & 220th St SW
The City of Edmonds aggressively enforces the 45 mph speed limit on State Route 99, particularly on Friday nights. The city limits goes from 212th SW through 244th SW. This is one of their usual haunts, one of two driveways on the west side of the street that go into Top Foods, but I’ve also seen them sitting backed up in the parking lot on the SW corner of 216th and SR 99, well out of a typical line of view, perhaps 50-100 feet back.
240th St SW & Hwy 99
This is just before Safeway on the east side of State Route 99. They sit in a parking lot for what used to be M&M Balloons, and the building shields them from the traffic, and enough motorists are by then frustrated with the anemic 40 mph of the southern jurisdiction (Shoreline) to open it up past the 45 mph in Edmonds. I’ve also observed them slightly north of Safeway, also on the east side, in a parking lot. Friday nights are a particularly high elvel of activity for these bears."
Edmonds Way near Exit Number Edmonds Ferry Exit
Travelling via Edmonds way coming from or into downtown Edmonds (not on HWY 104), there is sometimes a patrol car just after the bridge. Make sure you go 25MPH when you get on the bridge (it goes from a 35 to a 25 at the bridge). They are usually on the opposite side of the street between a few parked cars.
100th Street near Edmonds Way
Recently have been seeing 2-4 motorcycle cops on 100th, just south of Edmonds Way, right before 234th St SW. Either will sit in driveways or on 234th. Have even seen a few sitting in the blocked off entrance to Woodbury. They get you coming around the corner by the Old Woodway Hs, and pull you over in the gas station’s parking lot. Do 30, the cops in Edmonds are very aggressive! Good Luck.

76th Avenue near 232nd Street
In recent months, they haven’t been there as often as they used to be, but they can be anywhere along the stretch between 236th and highway 99…sitting alongside the road in their dark blue cruisers, perhaps in front of another car, or off the road and to the right of the sidewalk, or on an intersecting road. Their favorite spot is towards the southernmost part of this stretch, where they often nail people who step on it to make a green light that soon switches to being red for a fairly long time. Their favorite times have dwindled to night, where they blend in, but previously you could count on a weekend morning campout. Edmonds tends to have a lot of coverage on particularly Friday evenings from this area through 212th S.W.
