Entiat, Washington Speed Traps
Highway 97 North of town, as you drive south into town
The highway coming into the town of Entiat is wide and well paved and with a limit of 60 mph. (Entiat has very few bulidings or businesses, realy kind of a wide spot in the road as they say.
Even though the road does not change, the speed drops to 50 miles per hour with a very small sign, but there is no “reduce your speed” sign prior to the zone, as is usual. So you figure you are following the limit. Then another very small sign appears saying the speed is 35, but again with no “reduce your speed” sign. Then immediately Officer sits there and picks off drivers for a minimum $166 ticket. First he tells you that the city fathers have instructed him to do a speed emphasis in the area. Even thought the second sign is small and with no warning, and I was going 45 and below the “known” 50 mph zone, which proves I was attempting to follow the known limit, he issues a ticket anyway. When I questioned how he could ticket someone who is clearly trying to follow the visible street signs, he launches into a very long diatribe about how he has many children and dozens of kids and doesn’t read the news or internet for fear it will cause him to be lien when he doesn’t want to. Very strange situation and deluded officer. Beware and pick a different road.
