Federal Way, Washington Speed Traps
304th & 20th St. (North side of Steel Lake)
The cop sits on 20th Street facing south (his car is pointed towards the lake at the T-Junction). As people come West (towards Pac Hwy coming from Military) down the hill, he gets you.
Speed limit is 30mph, but all others around there are 35mph. Add to that the downhill and clear traffic…it is easy to hit 45mph if you aren’t paying attention.
I was pulled over in July 2010 and the cop told me that he’s there every weekday during regular work hours (I had a day off, doing errands around town). He gives you 10mph grace (I was doing 42mph).
End of S 320th St – turning off Hoyt Rd
At the very end of S 320th St (facing West) there is a flashing red light and stop signs. On one corner is an empty strip mall and a coffee drive-thru that’s in the shape of a coffee pot. The FW cops like to sit in the parking lot behind the coffee pot waiting for people to not stop completely at the stop sign on Hoyt Rd. Coming down 320th you see them and everyone stops anyway – but if you’re coming down Hoyt Rd you can’t – and it’s tempting to do a CA stop there before you head up 320th… since you’re looking straight ahead to watch traffic you don’t see them until you start to make the turn up 320th.
21st Ave S. & SW Campus Drive
Photo Enforcement of the school zone. I was 3mph over and a $210 ticket came in the mail weeks later. No children were present. Cowardly-not even the courtesy of a real officer to talk to. Never had a ticket in my life.
On I-5 in the Federal Way area.
