State Route 99 near S 312th to S 324th
Photo radar units are now operational on the traffic lights from S 312th Street to S 324th Street. As new construction heads south, more of these units will be placed. The units also serve as "red light" cameras that you’ve seen in the news lately.
State Highway 99 Pacific HWY S near Flying-J Truck Stop
Federal Way PD has a new Cessna airplane that they got under the Homeland security act. It is supposed to be used to patrol the seatac airport flight path. But instead, they use it for traffic enforcement. It flys at about 2000 feet and they measure speed with a stop watch between several check points.
S. 356th Street near 1st Avenue
A long curving downhill stretch eastbound about 1/4 mile before 1st Ave. is where notorcycle units hide behind a fence and zap oncoming traffic. You will not see them until you’re right on them and all you can do is smile as you go by.
21st Avenue near SW 348th Street
School zone just south of Safeway. Officer sits in his/her car in parking lot of church to catch offender heading south on 21st Ave SW. Speed limit is 20 only when lights are flashing, otherwise it is 35 MPH
I-5 @ enchanted parkway overpass SB
WSP trooper will park in median facing northbound, shooting Lidar against the southbound lanes as they pass over the hill at 340th st offramp. sometimes there will be a line of troopers waiting their turn for this trap.
