Gig Harbor, Washington Speed Traps

Watch out! For some unknown reason the speed limit drops to 25 miles per hour for a short distance near the Horseshoe Lake County Park entrance. A motorcycle cop followed me into Pierce County and gave me a ticket. He said I was going 31 miles per hour. The road curves there too. After he left I retraced my drive to see where the speed limit sign was. As I passed the park entrance, I saw he had already pulled another person over.

If you’re traveling eastbound on State Route 16, just past Wollochet Drive the speed limit drops from 60 to 55. About half a mile east of Wollochet there is a traffic advisory sign with some bushes and shrubs near it. Lately, I’ve seen an older State Patrol SUV backed in hiding behind cover, using his laser on cars as they approach. He pulls multiple cars over at a time for going ten over… Watch out!

The Sheriff sits on the east side of Artnodale/78th Ave at approx 54th ST NW. He is either off to the side of the read or in the vacant building lot at that location.

I observed a policeman with the driver’s side half of his vehicle parked up onto the sidewalk on the 24th St NW overpass. He was pointing the radar out of his window down at the vehicles below traveling west bound on Hwy 16.
However, what was particularly egregious about his actions was that he parked his vehicle on the sidewalk on the north side of the overpass (facing oncoming overpass traffic) and shot the west bound vehicles below from behind so that drivers never saw him. Nevermind unscrupulous, is that even legal?

Any where near or on the the Narrows Bridge. Slow Down. Very nice and polite officers but no warnings, pay up!!!!! I was written up for going 68 on the bridge. They hide around the corners, in the on or off ramps. Use lasers, Motorcycles as well as marked and unmarked cars. Unmarked cars: Look out for a white SUV a Maroon Ford Crown Victoria and a Dark Gray Ford as well.
