Issaquah, Washington Speed Traps
Interstate 90 near Mile Marker 15
State Patrol sedans and motorcycles are always in the median just west of the SR900 exit in Issaquah.
They get eastbound travelers accelerating down the hill into Issaquah. You can easily exceed 70 down that hill and the limit is 60.
Westbound, it’s about 1/2 mile after a carpool lane starts and they’re always pulling over single car drivers who don’t move over fast enough.
I drive to Issaquah M-F and see a trooper in that median at least once a week. Morning or evening rush, doesn’t matter.
They say that Issaquah is an Indian word for "speed trap". I believe it.
220th SE Avenue near FedEx facility / Microsoft Sammamish Campus / Issaquah District Court
This is between SE 51st and SE 56th on 220th Avenue SE. This road is frequently used by those trying to avoid the gridlock on E. Lake Sammamish Pkwy and SE 56th St… The limit is 25mph, which is too low — should be at least 35. During the morning rush hour, I’ve seen cops in cruisers and on bikes there on the North and South side along 220th Ave hidden in parking lots. The worst thing is that my V1 goes off there every day with a K-band false alarm…
Gillman Boulevard near Renton Road
Not really a "speed trap" but a trap none-the-less. There is the left turn from Gilman Blvd to Renton Rd./Rte 900. There is a sign that says no right on red during such hours. That turn gets backed up for miles, so people often ignore it and turn anyway. Usually a motorcycle cop will park/hide his bike behind the green power boxes on Renton Rd and stand on the other side, pointing at cars having them pull over. It is just before the Newport Way on/off ramps for I-90. They get poeple there non-stop.
W Lk. Sammamish Pkwy.
Here is one I think just for speeders. Turn onto W. Lk sam Pkwy form 900 and the speed limit is 35 until you pass the State park then it promptly goes to 30 for about 1/2 mile then pack to 35 at the top of the hill. Usually Motorcycle cop sits at the top of the hill with Lidar getting people that were going 40 in the 35 that has just turned to 30 so now your 10 over and all theirs for the taking.
Black nugget rd.
Coming down the hill they sit in the new Boeing parking lot and tag people. Coming up the hill they sit in a little paved area just after the turn from Home Depot and Fred meyer getting people coming around the corner from E. Lk Sammamish.
