Issaquah, Washington Speed Traps
I-90 at SR900 (both directions)
WSP motorcycles have been running a LIDAR trap just west of the SR900 overpass every day this last week during most of the daylight hours. There are 5 or 6 motorcycles mainly concentrating on traffic in the left lanes of both directions of travel. Eastbound traffic is targeted from the U-turn area as you come down the hill after the Lakemont Way exit. Westbound traffic is targeted from underneath the SR900 overpass. (This is supposedly part of the "seatbelt emphasis" patrolling, but either they’ve developed Lidar guns that detect whether your belt is fastened and all the people going more than 65 have their belt off, or its all really about ticket emphasis because the WSP wasn’t issuing enough. The motorcycles are all based out of the Eastgate WSP station.)
Interstate 90 between Mercer Island and Issaquah
Going east on I-90 after intersection with I-405, there is a radar/camera under the bridge, near the police station, about 2 miles before Issaquah.
West Lake Sammamish Parkway SE
1/4 mile west of Sammamish State Park, a cop (motorcycle or car) often sits in one of the driveways on the north side of the road. The posted speed is 30 mph, and for the portion of the road that is flanked by driveways, can be realistic, but after that, the speed remains at 30 despite a wide road and no turns or other distractions. Most people drive 35-40 and hope they don’t get caught.
Front Street
Car and motorcycle cops sit in the bushes and strictly enforce the 25 MPH speed limit for people coming in and out of downtown Issaquah. The locals always stay at 25 MPH – and for good reason. Most of them have received tickets there.
