Lakewood, Washington Speed Traps
100th St SW and Gravelly Lake Dr SW, Southbound on Gravelly
This trap is an improperly marked school zone with a speed camera and “in-ground sensors”. RCW 46.61.440 says that, “The speed zone at the crosswalk shall extend three hundred feet in either direction from the marked crosswalk.” but the School Zone sign is just 163 feet from the intersection.
Just south of 100th on Gravelly Lake Road
When you turn south off 100th onto Gravelly Lake Rd you are immediately in a school zone. If your focusing on making the turn you likely won’t see the flashing yellow lights. Police park across the street from the school with a radar gun and pick off drivers who missed the light.
Lakewood Blvd/Orchard St Between Steilacome Blvd & Center St
Speed limit lowered fro 40 MPH to 35 MPH… Red Flags on Speed Limit Signs.
Woodbrook Middle School location, 150th St SW and Spring St.
Photo enforced in conjunction with flashing yellow caution light. Speed limit is 20 mph. Camera activates regardless of whether flashing light is activated or not. Could possibly result as an infraction whether school is in session or not and whether flashing yellow light is activated or not.
74th St W & Orchard St
10/7/08 – The usual speed limit through here is 35 MPH but it quickly changes to 25 MPH during school hours and they mean business. I drove through here 2 times on my deliveries between the hours of 1:45pm to 2:15pm and I counted 7 police vehicles in this school zone that runs down 74th St W. 1 on Orchard Street 1 at the entrance to the school; 1 tucked in the SW corner of the school parking lot; 1 tucked in on Mullen Street and 1 sitting in the parking lot that runs parallel to Mullen Street; 1 on S Verde St; 1 on S Mason Ave
