State Route 500 near NE Thurston Way

Vancouver, WashingtonOct 03, 20070 Comments

Several mornings per week around 7:30am I’ve see a motorcycle police officer standing by hit bike with a [laser?] hitting west-bound traffic on SR-500 toward downtown Vancouver. He is on the crest of the SR-500 hill (right where it goes over Thurston Way) just a few meters past the offramp. You cannot see him (due to the 4th plain overpass blocking the line of sight) until it is too late and he can hit you with the laser. I have also seen police cars with radar on the downside of this same hill in the morning commute as well. This is a heavily-utilized speed trap during both rush hours.

Main Street near 4th Plain Boulevard

Vancouver, WashingtonSep 15, 20070 Comments

Vancouver PD has been setting up N of 4th Plain on Main Street.
The grade there is downhill on to Main if you’re driving into downtown Vancouver, and the police are there, just 1/2 block before the 4th Plain instersection, with their radar guns trained!

Interstate 5 North/South Bound near Hwy 99 and 134th Street

Vancouver, WashingtonJun 10, 20070 Comments

Every morning M-F I see motorists stopped in this stretch of new highway between 78th St exit and 134th St exit. Mainly the North bound but probably 3 days/week south bound, also. To those ticketed, even though it’s finished, there are still cones on the side of the road, so this is a double fine, construction zone ticket.

164th Avenue near 49th Street

Vancouver, WashingtonApr 07, 20070 Comments

When you travel south on 164th Ave., Just passed Safeway, all the way up the road on your right side are usaully a couple cops with radars. At night it is impossible to see them until you pass them. Be Careful!

East Mill Plain Boulevard near Boise Avenue

Vancouver, WashingtonMar 05, 20070 Comments

Cop sits on Boise Ave or Manzanita Way w/ radar and/or lidar. If you’re "speeding" he radios ahead to another motorcycle officer, usually at the bottom of the hill by Grove Street. The street is unusually slow (35) and it should be a 45mph zone.
