US Highway 52 near bridge

Iaeger, West VirginiaMar 23, 20040 Comments

An off-duty McDowell Co. sheriff’s deputy working part time for the "City" (really a bunch of residences beside U.S. 52) of Iaeger ticketed my mother and accused her of going 46 in a 25 zone. She may have been going that fast when she saw the sign that said "Reduce speed ahead," but she had dropped down to approx. 25 MPH by the time she passed the 25 MPH speed limit sign. The same cop ticketed my girlfriend a month before.
His modus operandi is to come across as being really lenient, saying he could charge you with reckless driving, etc., but he’s just going to charge you with speeding. He even tries to impress you with the fact that he’s going to write you a City of Iaeger ticket instead of a county ticket, as if he could write you such a county ticket while working for the City of Iaeger. He also warns you that he is much more lenient than the cops in Keyser and Keystone.
His approach, i.e. "Are you from around here?" and his outright lying make me think this is a speed trap.
