Speed trap as cars enter West Virginia East Bound on the interstate. Speed limit drops from 70mph in Kentucky to 65mph entering West Virginia. Out of state drivers are easy prey to enhance revenue for Kenova Police.

US Rt-60 (Oak St) all way thru town

Kenova, West VirginiaFeb 25, 20110 Comments

Town is 22 blocks long and has 10 cop cars in service–almost exclusively in use to issue traffic citations. Police MUST issue tickets to keep their job. They parallel park along Oak St (Rt-60) and radar oncoming traffic along that main thoroughfare as well as the other 8 thru streets. Mayor’s family has controlled the Town for 105 yrs. Town is broke and has a MultiM-$$ water & sewer problem they are fixing at drivers expense by issuing these speeding tickets.

Speed limits were recently reduced AGAIN and fines increased from $25 to $150. Following complaints from locals about the aggressive and hostile manners of the kid cops (relatives of Town Officials and their cronies). The new police chief testified on record before the mayor and City Council that the large number of tickets issued was "OK BECAUSE Most Are Issued to Out-of-State Drivers."

He is right, and most of those are our neighbors coming thru from Ky & Oh to shop or visit relatives. WELCOME STRANGERS!

Rt. 75/14th Street near Maple Street

The cops sit on top of the railroad overpass near sycamore st. and clock you as the speed limit sign changes from 40mph to 25mph. The change happens at the red light and he sits a block ahead hiding. I don’t see anything wrong with doing 40 or more down that road but their crooked mayor needs the money i suppose.

1500 Block of Pine Street

Kenova, West VirginiaJul 01, 20031 Comments

The roadway is two lanes for east and west traffic with no markings dividing the lanes. The speed limit is not posted with any markings. The police always have several cars setting at the intersection just waiting. There is a very stricted enforcement of 25 mph with no tolerance for the little faster driver.
