State Route 250 near Flaggy Meadow Road

Mannington, West VirginiaDec 03, 20070 Comments

While entering the town of Mannington the Speed limit sharply drops to 25MPH. The city Cop(s) tends to sit at the State Road Garage (Update: Former SRG – Look for large garage on the right side as you go into town). Since the town’s police department is "Under Funded" they use speed traps to help pay their employees.

US Rte 250 Northbound at city limit

Mannington, West VirginiaDec 30, 20020 Comments

Route 250 into town is a long gradual hill. The speed limit drops from 40/45 to 25 about 1/4 mile before the actual city limit. Motorists must ride the brakes all the way down the hill. Police run radar while sitting in or across from a DOT equipment yard – it is also a favorite spot of their for DUI enforcement. Ironically, the northbound side of this 2-lane road increases to 40 MPH *as soon as you cross the city limit*. In other words, there are two speed limits assigned to the same stretch of 2-lane road. This contradiction just begs to be challenged in court, but I have been lucky enough to avoid this trap.
