I-79 North of Star City

Star City, West VirginiaFeb 12, 20110 Comments

There is a “construction zone” in which no one is working. The road sings for speed limit are turned so that you cannot see them if you are entering from Star City entrance.

Therefore, a normal speed limit of 70 will be 15 miles over the limit. A ticket was given for going 59 in a 55.

The Star City Police sit at the Fire Department parking lot and usually bust people heading into Morgantown. Only rarely have I seen the police trying to get people entering Star City. This is a real hot spot during the day, especially lunch time when people are heading out. The limit is 25 and while they usually are pretty good with people going a few miles over, they do bust people going more than 30-so watch out!

The officers are patroling at all times. One on the south and one on the north. They mostly use instant-on radar so detectors are pretty useless.
