West Liberty, West Virginia Speed Traps

Ohio County Sheriff will setup a speedtrap by West Liberty Elementary School, and target the local college students. The speed limit on 88 approaching West liberty is 35 and then suddenly drops to 25 within the college vicinity. Driving past the elementary school during school hours the speed limit is 15 instead of the usual 20. Beware of this trap it’s easy revenue for the county.

This is usually done by the West Liberty Village police stopping students or people commuting to the College. Sometimes Ohio County deputies sit near there too. Coming down route 88 past the college it’s 25 and they’ll sit in the entrance of a private drive so you won’t see them unless someone flashes their lights at you coming up.
